What We Buy
Before you come in to sell, please familiarize yourself with what we buy.
Please understand we can only buy what sells well for us. It’s not personal!
You may have great clothes that simply don’t sell well in our store and if we know of another outlet that might be better for you, we’ll recommend it.
Things that affect what we take in and how we price are primarily:
We look for items that are very current trends that have been online, in malls or boutiques within the last 12-18 months.
Women’s styles that currently sell well for us often come from stores such as Free People, Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters. We don’t do as well with more formal women’s clothing such as Chico’s, Coldwater Creek and Talbots. Current trends, cut and fabric are critical. We don’t do well with formal dresses (prom, wedding, bridesmaid) unless it’s something that can double as a cocktail dress. We also do not typically buy dresses with beading or fragile lace (they tend to get easily damaged by the items hanging next to them or in the dressing room).
Men’s styles we love are surfer, preppy and young professional brands. The styles need to be trimmer fits in both shirts and pants. We buy business wear, but again they need to be current cut and trends. We can not buy older suits or button downs that have a wider arm. To test, fold the sleeve from the wrist to the armpit. The ratio of wrist to armpit should not exceed 1:2.
Items should be freshly laundered and in like-new condition.
We cannot accept items that have been in a smoke environment that have not been freshly laundered. If you bring in large amounts of dirty, damaged or out-of-style items or things no one would reasonably want (such as used socks/underwear), we may reject your entire offer. Our buyers go through thousands of items a day – if you bring in a lot of visibly worn, dirty or inappropriate things, it is simply not worth it for us to dig through all of them. However, typical problems people miss are small holes or stains in the armpits, collars or crotch. PLEASE PICK THE BEST OF WHAT YOU HAVE.
We do not buy based on brand. An older, out-of-style piece from a popular manufacturer won’t sell well for us.
We take very little from Walmart and other inexpensive retailers as we can’t price them high enough to make it worthwhile and our customers complain when they find them on the racks.
We buy all seasons all year long. As we are in Florida we do not buy a lot of very heavy winter clothing however, we do buy The North Face, Patagonia and other popular winter brands.
Processing Your Buy
We do not require you to stay with your clothes while we process your buy; however, if you have questions about the process or pricing your items, we do recommend you stay in the store especially if it’s your first time.
WHEN WE ESTIMATE WAITING TIME, THAT IS ONLY IF YOU WAIT IN STORE. IF YOU LEAVE THE STORE, YOUR BUY WILL BE DONE AS A DROP OFF AND COMPLETED BEFORE THE END OF BUSINESS.
We MUST prioritize those who wait in the store. if you leave, you lose your place in line. We will call email you when finished, usually before closing time (8:00 PM xc Sundays, 6:00 PM).
For your convenience we offer three different ways to process your buys:

We will contact you by email when your buy is complete, usually before closing time (8:00 PM xc Sundays, 6:00 PM). You have 24 hours to pick up your items we do not buy.
IF YOU DROP OFF:
- Please choose cash or store credit as a default in case we can’t reach you when the buy is complete.
- Please indicate if you wish to pick up the items we don’t buy or donate.
- Sign the drop off pre-approval line.
YOU ARE FREE TO DECLINE OUR OFFER IF YOU REMAIN IN THE STORE BUT IF YOU LEAVE THE STORE, WE PROCEED WITH YOUR BUY AND WE CANNOT RETRIEVE YOUR ITEMS FROM THE FLOOR ONCE THEY HAVE BEEN PROCESSED.
You can always pick up the items we do not buy but the ones we take will be tagged, sensored and put out.
How We Price
We try to price about 70-75% off the original retail, meaning the “street price” or what it typically sold for new. We also refer to online sellers of used items. There is a limit to how high we are able to price and pay out very high end items (Gucci, Prada, Christian Louboutin, etc.) and you may wish to ask about consigning those instead.
We offer you 25-30% of the selling price in cash or 25% more in store credit that never expires. (Example: $10 cash or $12.50 store credit.) We cannot split payouts on buys at this time. If you wish to get some credit and some cash, let us know WHEN YOU CHECK IN and we can do two separate buys, one for credit and one for cash if there is enough to do both. You must let us know in advance, BEFORE we start buying, as we cannot split the payment after your items are entered.

Our pricing and payout is standard for the industry but people new to the resale experience are sometimes disappointed by what we can offer. If you are bringing in clothes that sold new for $100, they will likely be priced in the $25-33 range, which would probably pay you out somewhere between $7.50 to $12.25. or $9.38 to $15.31 in store credit. If you have a lot of items and you’re looking to clear out and/or trade up, this is a great way to go. However, if you have specific items you want more for, selling on your own may be better for you if you’re willing to devote the time. We do offer consignment on higher end items, in which case we are able to price higher and pay you out 50% when the item sells.

Retrieving Items We Do Not Buy
You may pick up the items we don’t buy or we can donate them on your behalf to charity via the Daniel Memorial Foundation and buildOn. BuildOn partners with local villages to build schools in third world countries. Donations are tax deductible and the tax form is available here.
If you prefer to retrieve them, please select “pick up” on the buy sheet, otherwise they will be donated.
All vendors are notified of their offer via e-mail. You may pick up your cash within two weeks BUT YOU MUST PICK UP LEFTOVER ITEMS BY THE CLOSE OF BUSINESS THE DAY AFTER YOU RECEIVE YOUR OFFER (8:00 PM or 6:00 Sunday). If you do not pick up by then, items are automatically donated as we have limited space and cannot store them.
If for any reason you are unable to pick up by the close of business, please let us know and we will hold them one additional day.
